This is one of my favorite spots I go for my lunch break. They always have great options and have a different special every time I walk in.

The guava chicken always sell out so give them a call or go early.  When I don't feel like chicken I mahi mahi is the way to go. I sometimes put the spicy Gallic butter or creamy garlic sauce on top . They have a ton more dressing options on the board.

    Here's how to order:
Step 1: Mini or regular plate
Step 2: choose your main dish
Step 3: choice of dressing if you ordering fish
    Step 4: choose your rice
Step 5: choose your side: salad , Mac salad or corn
Step 6: order a canned drink or dessert

Your order seriously comes out quick. Even the fish and steak is grilled to order but you don't have to wait long.

my friend and I decided to be a little bit adventurous and try a restaurant on yelp that has good ratings but isn't well know. Pongo's restaurant caught our eye and we decided to give this place a try. I got the combo plate that has the Grilled Ahi and the guava Chicken. It comes with 1 scoop of rice and I decided to go with the tossed salad (you can choose between corn, mac, and toss). The Grilled Ahi was alright, it didn't stand out but it wasn't bad. The star was the guava chicken, it was really ono. A lot of people on yelp recommend the guava chicken and I can see why. The guava chicken was seasoned really well and the chicken was nice and moist. I heard that the guava chicken runs out sometimes but I assume that usually happen during the weekday cause I think a lot of people who work in the surrounding area grab food from here.

This is a really small place, there isn't any seating indoor and there are 2 tables right outside. This isn't too big of a problem because a lot of people grab take out. However, be prepared to wait for a table to open up or eat in your car.

There is limited parking in the area, so you might have to walk far. A lot of people who grab take up, just park out front and park illegally. The restaurant seems pretty clean. The place doesn't pop out either, you will have to keep your eyes open. It looks like a local neighborhood convenience store, actually, there is one right next to it. I got my drink from thereafter I order.

In conclusion, I recommend you to try this place, it's a hole in the wall and I think it's worth coming here and checking it out.

If you're craving a local plate lunch, take out from this hole in the wall! Even though it is take out, there are still two tables outside if you want to eat there. Pongo's Kitchen is very efficient. Right after paying, they have your food ready. Once it gets a bit busier, the wait is more standard.

I'm not sure if they put a special ingredient on the guava chicken, but it was so addicting. The fried part was not so crunchy and a bit sticky, but the chicken inside was still moist. The mini plate size is very generous and so cheap! A box full of chicken, brown rice, and fresh, loose, corn is only $6.81. They also offer white rice and other side options include tossed salad (accompanied by wonderful dressings) or Mac salad. The ahi bake is exactly as you would imagine it. The crab and ahi was a great combination and still warm; the ahi to crab ratio perfect.

The pricing here is sooo affordable for an overall healthier style of plate lunches. I have to come back to try their other dishes!

A solid choice for a healthier style plate lunch. Food was tasty but just a few things hold me back from giving full stars.

The mini was TINY. I ate the whole thing, and I'm the queen of always having leftovers. Yes, I was hungry but it was tiny. The mini salmon plate has 2 skinny pieces of salmon. I got all toss since the brown rice was pau by the time I got there so I think the carbs would have had a more filling effect, but I can hardly ever eat the full portion anywhere I go. Pongo's was an exception.

Yes, the salmon was tasty but over cooked a little bit. The spicy house butter wasn't as flavorful as I'd hoped and there was no spice. The salad greens are great- they use fancy style micro greens and their ranch sauce is amazing. I paid 50cents extra for the ginger green onion sauce not realizing it's just salad dressing. And there were no chunks of ginger or green onion, it was all liquid.

The guava chicken was a big let down. I got a side portion and it was old, cold and dry. The main/ biggest chicken piece was mostly just empty skin. And a few minuscule little other pieces of skin/ breading. The chicken I could find hiding inside was dry (it literally stuck in my throat on the way down and I had to take a panicked sip of water to dislodge it) so I fed the rest to my dog (she approved as thankfully didn't choke). The guava sauce was sparse and tasted old and burnt on. I definitely would not order it again.

Maybe because it was the end of the day by the time I got there... but a business that is "famous" for guava chicken should have just said, "hey, we're sold out" rather than scrape the bottom of the pan to sell 1 more lousy portion.

    No parking.

Ordered through bite squad. The chicken was mostly chicken skin. Hardly any meat! We ordered the guava chicken and sesame chicken. Sesame chicken had 0 flavor. Corn had 0 flavor. Guava chicken has potential but It would be nice to have more than just the skin. :( won't be ordering from again.
